Context

Graphext is a cutting-edge tool designed to accelerate data science projects, enabling users to work collaboratively and without needing to write code. Aimed at Scientists, Analysts, and Business Analysts, the tool strives to be more powerful than traditional dashboards and more intuitive than notebooks, setting itself apart from the competition.

Graphext simplifies the process of transforming, exploring, visualizing, and presenting data within a streamlined, browser-based workspace that fosters collaboration. Its goal is to make data science more accessible and user-friendly.

Objective

The design team’s goal is to enhance user experience (UX) by making the tool accessible to users with varying levels of expertise and creating efficient workflows. Clear and effective data visualization is crucial, which involves developing a modular design across the platform to ensure visual consistency and minimize cognitive overload. Additionally, the tool must be scalable, capable of handling both small datasets and large volumes of information without sacrificing performance.

My Role

As a Senior Product Designer with a focus on data visualization, my role involves understanding and interpreting complex data to create visualizations that are both comprehensible and useful for users. I leverage foundational knowledge in data science, statistics, and predictive modeling to design tools that support these processes effectively. My work involves close collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and analysts to ensure that the final product meets both technical and user requirements. Continuous feedback from real users is integral to my process, allowing me to iterate and refine the tool to better serve its audience.

Deliverables

• User Experience (UX) Design: Creating efficient workflows that allow users to perform complex analyses without getting bogged down by software complexity.
• Functionality Enhancements: Implementing and improving new features within existing sections of the platform.
• Creation of New Sections: Developing new sections to help users gain better insights from their data.
• Modular User Interface (UI) Design: Ensuring the platform's design is modular, allowing users to customize their workspace.
